Clarity (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how Clarity collects, uses, stores, and protects user information when you use the Clarity mobile application (“App”).

Clarity collects only the minimum information required to provide its services.

a) Information You Provide

• Email address – used for account creation, login, and communication
• Profile details (grade level, curriculum) – used to personalize explanations

b) Content You Submit

• Text-based academic questions
• Images of academic questions (camera or gallery)

Images are processed temporarily to generate explanations and are not publicly shared.

c) Automatically Collected Information

• App usage data (screens visited, actions taken)
• Device information (app version, OS version)
• Purchase and subscription status

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide step-by-step educational explanations
• Personalize learning based on grade and curriculum
• Manage user accounts and subscriptions
• Improve app performance and reliability
• Show ads to free users (disabled for paid users)
• Prevent fraud and misuse

Clarity does not sell user data.

3. AI-Generated Content Disclosure

• Clarity uses artificial intelligence (AI) to generate explanations
• AI-generated content is designed to assist learning
• Content is aligned with school curriculum standards
• AI explanations do not replace professional teaching

Students are encouraged to understand concepts, not copy answers.

4. Ads & Monetization

• Free users may see banner or rewarded ads
• Paid users (Clarity Pro) do not see ads
• Ads are provided by trusted third-party services (e.g., Google AdMob)
• Ads are clearly distinguishable from app content

5. Subscriptions & Payments

• Clarity offers optional monthly and yearly subscriptions
• Payments are processed securely via Google Play Billing
• Clarity does not store credit or debit card details
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled via Play Store settings
• Users can cancel subscriptions anytime from Google Play

6. Data Sharing & Third Parties

Clarity may share limited data only when necessary with:

• Google Firebase – authentication, analytics, crash reporting
• Google AdMob – advertising (free users only)
• Google Play Billing – subscription management
• AI service providers – explanation generation

All third parties are required to comply with applicable data protection laws.

7. Data Security

• Data is encrypted in transit
• Secure authentication mechanisms are used
• Access is restricted to authorized services only

However, no system is 100% secure. Users should protect their login credentials.

8. Data Retention

• Account data is retained while the account is active
• AI-generated explanations may be cached temporarily
• Users may request deletion of their account and data

9. Children’s Privacy

Clarity is designed for school students aged 9 years and above. We take additional steps to protect children’s privacy, especially for users under 13.

• Account & contact details: Clarity uses an email address for login. If a child under 13 uses the app, we recommend using a parent/guardian email and supervision.
• Limited data collection: We collect only what is needed to provide learning features (e.g., grade/curriculum selection and submitted questions).
• Child-directed ads: For free users, ads (if shown) are requested in a child-directed / non-personalized manner. Paid users do not see ads.
• No selling of data: We do not sell children’s (or any users’) personal information.
• Parental controls: Parents/guardians may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of a child’s account and associated data.

10. User Rights

Users have the right to:

• Access their personal data
• Request correction or deletion of data
• Cancel subscriptions
• Withdraw consent where applicable

11. Permissions Used

Clarity uses permissions strictly for functionality:

• Camera – capture academic questions
• Media access – select question images
• Internet – fetch explanations and sync data

No permissions are used for background surveillance.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Users will be notified of significant changes via the app or listing.
